about

The "ooh Babe"s in the verses are a reference to Pink Floyd's The Wall and their (over)use of the phrase on that album. The rest of the words just came. I was High on Love and Drugs at the time. The ending of the song is meant to be a tribute to The Beatles' "I want you (she's so heavy) from Abbey Road...with droning vocals and gratuitous solos on top.

lyrics

Ooh Babe… Where have you been all of this latest life?
Ooh Babe… I will not let this opportunity pass me by
CHORUS
‘Cause there are only so many times
Ooh Babe… Seems like a mountain’s nothin’ but a breeze for you and me to climb
Ooh Babe… I feel I can fly with you by my side
CHORUS
‘Cause there are only so many times
That we get to love in these lonely lives
